District Heating & Cooling
Socea was recently contracted to supply a whole range of tailor - made DN600 to DN1400 pipe curves, T-joints, and inspection chambers made of steel core reinforced concrete for the further extension of the Genilac heating and cooling network in Switzerland.
Genilac is arguably the most ambitious network of its kind in the world, using the 89 billion m 3 of water in Lake Geneva as an immense renewable energy store. Water at a constant 7°C is being pumped up from the bottom of the lake 45 metres deep to be distributed over several city districts to cool buildings in the summer and heat them in the winter.
Genilac turned to Socea for quality and durability. Pipes throughout the Genilac network have to withstand very high pressures and there is simply no rival for our steel core reinforced concrete pipes. Genilac’s team of Swiss engineers paid a visit to our manufacturing facility to audit our process from A to Z. Quality approved, was their unanimous conclusion.
